Tonight, you’re getting together with your childhood pals and you’ve prepared a lordly meal! Foie gras terrine, pâté en croûte, rillettes de cochon and jelly for starters. Then tripe and rib steak with steamed and sautéed potatoes for the main course. And finally, a fine cheese platter, alternating soft and pressed cheeses.

To go with that, you’ll need at least four five pins. Here, as you’ll have gathered, we’re not going to be fussy about food and wine pairings. What we want is buddy wine, wine that you can sip like whey! And what better way to do it than with an assortment of fine Beaujolais skittles? As an added bonus, you’re guaranteed to pay less than in other regions.

Well, enough chit-chat, let’s move on to the interesting part of the article: the wine selection. We’re offering you a small catalog of 4 beautiful bottles at a small price, but with great pleasure!

The + pleasure

For this first wine, we take you to Jean Foillard ‘s magnificent Morgon 2019. A little air and you’re in for a treat!

An explosion of aromas, notably of red fruits and flowers. Between violet and cherry, you won’t know which way to turn. The wine is even surprisingly round, without losing its intense freshness and outstanding drinkability.

The most advanced

Let yourself be carried away by the aromatic bomb that isAbbey Road 2015, vinified by Marc Delienne. As explosive as the paint on its label, this wine surprises with its incredibly well-established substance and structure thanks to the aging of the 2015 vintage.

Between crisp red fruit and luscious substance, Marc Delienne has succeeded in producing a Beaujolais that is more evolved and structured than its peers, while retaining the characteristic freshness of Gamay and Fleurie.

The most affordable

Let yourself be tempted by… Jean Claude Lapalu ‘s cuvée Tentation 2020 ! This Beaujolais Villages, at less than €20 (usually around €15), is a fruity little wine that’s hard to stop drinking if you’ve got a few bottles on the table.

The wine is fresh, mineral and fruity. Gourmet and easily digestible, it’s a typical example of what the highly talented Jean-Claude Lapalu produces: wines that breathe terroir and are nourished exclusively by the nature that surrounds them. Wines in their purest natural state.

The all-rounder

I don’t suppose we’re telling you anything if we tell you that Marcel Lapierre is the star of Beaujolais right now. With his Morgon 2019 (or 2020), he has charmed a whole clientele fond of easy-to-digest wines. Perfect for uncorking in any situation, this keel is the essence of Beaujolais.

The aromas are classic: red fruits and violets. A hint of licorice is also present. On the palate, the wine is as full-bodied as it is delicious.
