Champagne is my guilty pleasure and on a whim, I decided to go away for the weekend to visit estates with friends and build up a nice stock.

Setting off spontaneously on the Champagne wine route was the perfect opportunity to try out Carlili, a home-delivered car rental service.

The big advantage: no need to queue up at a branch or deal with paperwork. A real relief and a real time-saver!

Renting a car in Paris isn’t all that complicated. Carlili delivers its cars 7 days a week, from 8am to 11pm, wherever and whenever you want. You can rent a car up to 2 hours before departure and cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the start of the rental period.

So at 6pm on Thursday evening, I devised a wine tourism itinerary. First stop on this Champagne winetour: Xavier Loriot, then La Villesenière and finally Pommery.

At 6pm, I order my car for the next day at 8.30am. No glitches, the site is super easy to use!

On Friday morning, the carsitter came to deliver the vehicle. Let’s head for Champagne!

First stop after a 2-hour drive from Paris, to the sound of good times sharing with our favorite Spotify playlists playlists: the Maison Xavier Loriot in Binson-et-Orquigny. It’s an estate that’s been handed down from generation to generation, a non-conformist and avant-garde estate that reinvents itself every year. I fell in love with the Hypnotic Brut champagne! After a tour of the estate, a tasting and a case in the boot, we stop for a picnic before getting back in the car.

A 10-minute drive later, we arrive at La Villesenière Champagne House in Boursault. Growing up among the vines, Laurence and her husband launched their own brand of Champagnes aged and vinified in oak barrels. It’s no surprise that we leave with 3 bottles of the cuvée Harmony.

We spent a truly champenoise night at the Montflambert manor house in Mutigny, where we took the opportunity to change our return time so we could wander around Reims the next day.

On Saturday lunchtime, on the advice of a friend, we went to La Grillade Gourmande restaurant in Epernay, which boasts an exceptional wine cellar…and we weren’t disappointed!

Drink or drive, the choice is yours: after a welcome digestive break, we head for Reims to visit the magnificent Pommery cellars. Listed as a Unesco World Heritage Site, this was a unique and unforgettable visit! And their Champagnes are unquestionably superb, we can’t tell you.

After a stroll around town, we take the car back to Paris with a full trunk. The carsitter came to collect the car at the appointed time, and we invited our friends to come and have a taste on Sunday!

Very happy with my experience, I share with you the coupon code “ROUTEDESVINS” to get 30€ off your first Carlili rental!
