A committed winery

Château de Vimont is owned by the Institut Don Bosco, one of the region’s leading medical and social organizations. The domaine covers 16 hectares of vines cultivated on the Portets plateau, in the heart of the emblematic Graves vineyards.

The estate is committed to producing wines that reflect the terroir and its values. The vineyard is managed with the greatest respect for the environment and biodiversity, and is HVE certified. What’s more, the estate employs disabled people who work passionately to produce high-quality wines.

The estate produces wines in the Graves and Bordeaux Supérieur appellations. Red wines are made from Merlot (the dominant grape variety), Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. White wines are made from Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc.

An ideal terroir for growing vines

The Château de Vimont vineyards benefit from terroir elements that allow the berries to ripen perfectly. On the Portets plateau, the hilltop is composed of a mosaic of gravels, which are dry soils that drain well in the event of heavy rain. Bordeaux’s oceanic climate is also a determining factor in vine-growing. The influence of the ocean combined with a sufficiently dry, hot summer, followed by an autumn with little rainfall, ensures that the grapes ripen well and produce quality juice.
