A passion for wine

It all began in 1840 for Vignobles Pellé, and has been handed down from generation to generation ever since. Today, the 5th generation of the Pellé family is at the head of the estate. Denis Pellé passionately manages this 60-hectare Bordeaux vineyard in the communes of Saint Martin de Sescas, Saint Pierre d’Aurillac and Saint Martial.
The vineyards benefit from soils that are essentially silty-clayey-sandy and loamy.

The estate produces wines in the Bordeaux Red, Blanc Moelleux, Côtes-de-Bordeaux Saint Macaire, Blanc Sec and Liquoreux appellations. Vignobles Pellé is divided into three family-run entities: Château de Jayle, Château Les Ancres and Château Champs de Lucas.

Major redevelopment work was carried out in 1993, when a new winery was built, combining a stainless steel vat room for alcoholic fermentation and an underground vat room for malolactic fermentation. The estate, driven by the desire to produce wines that reflect their terroir while respecting their environment, received HVE 3 certification in 2018.

Estate wines

The 2014 vintage of Château de Jayle‘s Cuvée Barrique is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (95%) and Merlot. Aged for 8 months in oak barrels, it boasts a fine aromatic palette. The nose blends woody, subtly smoky notes with intense fruity aromas. On the palate, this wine is full-bodied, structured and warm. Beautifully rounded, with lovely vanilla notes. It’s the ideal partner for Greek-style eggplant, prime rib, spicy vegetables or chocolate cake…

Plaisir Fruité Rosé is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It seduces with its freshness, fruitiness and fine acidity. For even more deliciousness, pair it with charcuterie, grilled meat skewers or a fresh fruit salad.

Plaisir Fruité Blanc Sec is a Savignon Blanc produced in the Côtes-de-Bordeaux-Saint-Macaire appellation. This is an aperitif wine, to be enjoyed with tapas, fish or soft cheeses. Its expressive nose offers clear aromas of exotic fruit and citrus, complemented by a hint of spice.

Château de Jayle, produced in the Bordeaux appellation, is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The nose reveals floral notes of violet, accompanied by spicy and fruity notes. On the palate, this wine is supple, round and lingering. It’s the perfect accompaniment to gougères with brie, filet mignon of pork or gratin dauphinois. Enjoy your meal!
