We’ve been in winter for 1 month now. With cooler temperatures and more substantial dishes on our plates, we don’t drink the same as in summer! Gone are the days of rosés, now it’s time for winter wines.

The TWIL team has specially selected some winter nuggets for you:

White wine

When it comes to winter dishes, some full-bodied, generous whites find their place at the table.

  • For a long winter’s evening, think Burgundy and its legendary Chablis. Domaine Moreau-Naudet offers a small Chablis with a citrus fragrance and a clean, straightforward palate, sustained by round fruitiness tinged with lemony notes. Perfect with honeyed pork, for example.

  • A real favorite of the TWIL team, Pouilly-Fuissé
    Pouilly-Fuissé “la Dynastie des Ferraud”.
Rated 93/100 by Gilbert & Gaillard, this rich, creamy wine is the perfect accompaniment to leek and hazelnut risotto. A winter recipe that’s sure to please your taste buds!

  • Head for the Pays d’Oc to savour a real little nugget from
    Château de Figuières
. Acknowledged by numerous wine critics, this vineyard produces a Impetus white exceptional. Pair with veal blanquette around the fire.

  • If you’re looking for an award-winning, affordable wine, Château de Rochefort is the place to go.
    Muscadet Sèvre et Maine PDO
. With two stars in the Guide Hachette 2022, it is described as one of the world’s greatest white wines by Pascaline Lepeltier, France’s best sommelier and a candidate in the World’s Best Sommelier competition.

Red wine 🍷

  • At this time of year, higher alcohol levels are tolerated than for wines drunk in the sun. Perfect wines for this winter are without hesitation the wines of Rhône Valley. TWIL recommends a Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Maison Gabriel Meffre. On the nose, generous aromas of ripe strawberries and spices, followed by silky red fruit tannins.

  • With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, we bring you this lovely
    Château Amour
du Médoc. An elegant ruby-red color. The palate rests on a quality structure. It’s a comforting treat to share with your partner.

  • Once again in the Rhone Valley, Crozes-Hermitage, generous in flavor, is the ideal accompaniment to meats, sauces and winter vegetables. Opt for TWIL’s “coup de cœur” with the
    Sang des Seigneurs
A wine with beautiful aromatic persistence and perfect balance.

  • To round off our selection, we offer you an exclusive from The Wine I Love, the
    Château de Malherbes
. Rated 90/100 by Andreas Larsson, the world’s best sommelier, this brilliant garnet-colored wine offers great finesse, with aromas of black cherry and mocha and a warm, suave mouthfeel. Something to warm you up for the cold!
