If you ever get the urge to visit Sicily, you can’t miss this estate. Serra Ferdinandea is a dream born in Sicily. Nestled in a typical Mediterranean landscape, the estate overlooks the sea where the eponymous island first appeared in 1831. If France and Italy once fought to claim it, these wines made from complementary grape varieties illustrate the union of these two cultures, within the project supported by the Oddo and Planeta families.

The Planeta family

At the head of the Planeta empire are 3 cousins: Francesca, Alessio and Santi Planeta. Their secret? A successful marriage of modernity and Sicilian produce. The 390-hectare estate, spread over six estates throughout Sicily, is planted with the finest varieties of both native (Nero d’Avola, Nerello Mascalese, Grecanico, Carricante, Moscato di Noto and Frappato) and international grape varieties, the source of some of Italy’s most delicious wines.

The Oddo estate

 

 

The story began in 2015 when Pascal and Lorraine Oddo acquired
the Domaine du Vallon des Glauges
one of the most sumptuous wine estates in the Coteaux d’Aix en Provence, producing mainly rosé.

Passionate about wine, the family couldn’t stop there. They have diversified by selecting the best terroirs and surrounding themselves with local partner families: the Jolivet family in Sancerre, and the Sicilian family in Italy. the Planeta family.

In our ongoing quest for excellence, all our estates are committed to a sustainable approach that respects the environment.

Cuvées not to be missed

Red Wines
  • Serra Ferdinandea, red : Aged in foudres and barrels, optimized by a selection of the finest French oak barrels, it accompanies and enhances the unique varietal expression of Nero d’Avola and Syrah. Two varieties that combine perfectly to create an intense red that draws all its elegance from the specific characteristics of the terroir. With an ageing potential of 10 years, it is the perfect accompaniment to a meal with red meat or a cheese platter.
Rosé wines

  • Serra Ferdinandea, rosé
    : The natural alchemy between Nero d’Avola and Syrah has helped create a great rosé with a unique personality. Produced from plots cultivated on the heights of Serra Ferdinandea, and vinified in the Provençal style, this rosé is characterized by great aromatic freshness in which the Nero d’Avola evokes floral scents reminiscent of violets, and the Syrah intense citrus notes. A true wine that transports you into the Italian dolce vita!
White wines
  • Serra Ferdinandea, white : Florent Dumeau, the Planeta family’s consultant oenologist for the past 10 years, has combined different worlds to create this wine, which stands out for its aromatic intensity: a unique combination of fragrances and flavors. Wood is used with subtlety, to accompany the aromas while preserving the varietal expression and ageing potential, guaranteeing ideal ageing of this white wine. Rated 90/100 by Bettane et Desseauve and cultivated biodynamically, this is the Twil committee’s favorite! Perfect with fish, this white wine is undoubtedly a nugget of excellent value for money.
