Located in the heart of the Douro region, the Quinta do Vale do Seixo estate offers authentic Port and Douro wines. A family-run business, Héritage Porto & Douro aims to promote age-old know-how and an exceptional region. Julien dos Santos, the company’s founder, pays homage to his winegrowing grandfather.

Héritage Porto & Douro: a family story

In tribute to his grandfather Felisberto dos Santos, Julien dos Santos created Heritage Porto & Douro in 2011. The former winegrower has passed on to his grandson an estate, traditional know-how and family values. The estate comprises a vineyard and an olive grove, and is located in Seixo de Ansiães, in the heart of the emblematic Douro Valley.

Bordering the Douro river, it is in this exceptional setting, listed in 1931, that Julien dos Santos perpetuates ancestral know-how. Through wine and olive oil, this family-run business aims to introduce the world to the beauty of the Douro Valley.

A Unesco World Heritage site

Located in the heart of the Haut-Douro region, the company is part of a long tradition of winegrowing that has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Julien dos Santos aims to perpetuate an age-old heritage while promoting the region’s wines. Respect for the environment is a core concern. Likewise, authenticity in the wine-making process is particularly important to him. To produce its wine, the company uses processes such as foot treading and hand harvesting.

Thanks to its exceptional location, the Quinta do Vale do Seixo estate has a decisive influence on the identity of this family-run business. Nestled in a breathtaking landscape, this estate welcomes visitors from all over the world to discover an exceptional terroir. The Douro Valley is THE flagship wine tourism destination in Portugal.

Wines of great authenticity

The Héritage Porto & Douro vineyard offers Port wines (white, tawny, ruby, rosé) and Douro wines (rosé, white, red). For lovers of red port, choose between rubys, which age in the bottle, and tawnys, which age in the barrel. In their youth, these port wines are distinguished by their red color, and on the palate, they reveal delicate notes of red fruit. As they age, they take on an amber color and woody notes. Dried fruit aromas predominate. All wines are available in a range of ageing durations: 10, 20, 30 or 40 years.

Douro wines are made from traditional Portuguese grape varieties: Codega do Larinho, Viosinho, Fernão Pires… Colheita White Wine 2019 has a yellow color with silvery highlights. The nose reveals notes of white fruit and verbena. The mouthfeel is lively and elegant.
