An estate in the heart of Alsace

Located in Mittelwihr, west of Colmar, the Scheidecker & fils estate is right in the heart of the Alsace vineyards.

Today, the estate is spread over five communes, some ten hectares and a multitude of terroirs. Spread over more than 100 plots, the vineyard is fragmented, which is a great asset for the aromatic diversity of the wines.

The vineyards have a very special microclimate, characterized by one of the lowest rainfall rates in France (500 to 600 mm of water per year). What’s more, the vines receive optimum sunshine, thanks to their location on the sub-Vosgian hills.

The estate comprises several terroirs: Grand Cru Mandelberg, Grand Cru Froehn and Grand Cru Sporen. These parcels include a multitude of grape varieties, including Sylvaner, Muscat, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Noir.

Know-how handed down from generation to generation

For generations, our vines have been cultivated with passion and respect for the environment. The estate is certified HVE 3 (High Environmental Value) and since 2021 has been committed to organic farming.

In winter, the vines are pruned into single or double guyot. During spring vine growth, trellising is done manually. Finally, harvesting takes place when each plot has reached optimum maturity, with a perfect balance between acidity, sweetness and aromatic potential. In the cellar, the wine is slowly pressed, fermented for several weeks and then aged for several months in vats.
