Château La Rose-Pourret, in the heart of Saint-Emilion

Contents

The estate

Right on the Bordeaux-Libourne-Saint-Emilion axis, Château La Rose Pourret extends over 9 hectares of vines, just a few hundred meters from the bell tower of the medieval town of Saint-Emilion, itself a UNESCO World Heritage site. The estate was taken over in 2018, followed by major renovation work to breathe new life into the place, its winery, its vines…

The vineyard

The Château La Rose Pourret vineyard extends over 9 hectares of vines, all around 40 years old. Since its acquisition by the new owner, the estate has taken a more committed approach to respecting nature, with the complete conversion of the vineyard to organic farming.

The vineyard is planted on a fairly homogeneous terroir, characterized by a rich soil composed of superficial silts and deep clays. A new parcel on the northern slope of the limestone plateau will add structure and complexity to future vintages. Situated between 3 and 107m above sea level, the vines of Château La Rose Pourret benefit from a warm temperate climate, typical of the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation area.

The estate is planted with 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. This typically local grape variety produces elegant, well-balanced wines that are enhanced by barrel ageing.

The wines

Château La Rose Pourret 2019 en Saint Emilion Grand Cru boasts a deep, flavorful ruby-red color. On the nose, a complex aromatic palette combines notes of red fruit, wild berries and dried spices. On the palate, the wine reveals ripe tannins and discreet oak. A well-balanced wine, full of freshness and good length on the palate.
