Located in the heart of the Saint-Émilion appellation, this property has belonged to the Reynier family for 4 generations. Since 2009, the estate has been run by Marie-Anne Reynier and her sons. Saint-Émilion wines are showcased in an environmentally-friendly way.

A new direction for an exceptional vineyard

Located in the commune of Saint-Laurent des Combes in the Charente region, Château Haute Neuve has been owned by the Reynier family for over four generations. Today, the estate is managed by Marie-Anne Reynier. For over 70 years, the Reynier family has been members of the Saint-Émilion cooperative. During the 20th century, the château entrusted its harvests to the cooperative, which was responsible for vinifying and marketing them. During this period, the château’s wine won numerous awards.

In 2009, Marie-Anne decided to change direction and start selling her own wine. With the help of her sons, she invested in the construction of a winery to run the 9.5-hectare estate. Today, his aim is to make the most of the vinification carried out on his estate, while respecting the environment.

A Unesco World Heritage site

Located in the heart of the Saint-Émilion appellation, this 9.5-hectare estate was established in 1864. Classified in 1999 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its vineyards and landscapes, the Saint-Émilion terroir enjoys worldwide renown. The Château Haute-Nauve vineyard is mainly located at the foot of the hill, but some of the vines are on the slopes. The property benefits from clay-limestone soil, which provides an optimal balance for wine production. The result is a round wine with a rich, fruity mouthfeel.

Committed to respecting the environment, Marie-Anne Reynier practices integrated farming in her vineyard. It reduces the use of chemicals and closely monitors the vines. The use of plant protection products is restricted. When the winery was built, photovoltaic panels were installed on the roof. A rainwater recovery system reduces water consumption for cleaning equipment. The estate holds HVE (High Environmental Value) certification. In the future, the Reynier family would like to obtain ISO 14001 certification.

The authenticity of Saint-Émilion wines

Château Haute-Nauve – Saint-Émilion Grand Cru vintage 2011 is essentially composed of Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc. Dark in color with violet highlights, it reveals woody aromas reminiscent of barrels, yet with a certain freshness. The mouthfeel is velvety and slightly acidic, finishing with notes of cherry and morello cherry and intense freshness.

The 2009 Saint-Émilion Grand cru cuvée “son altesse de Haute-Nauve” is a deep, dark ruby color. On the nose, aromas of spices, tobacco and candied fruit are apparent. The mouthfeel is round and fleshy, with a long, silky finish. This wine goes perfectly with red meat, game or roast poultry.
