A product of one of France’s most prestigious vineyards: the Rothschild family has played a major role in Bordeaux’s winegrowing history.
The history of the Rothschild family
The story of the Rothschild family begins at the end of the 18th century, when Mayer Amschel Rothschild, a merchant from the Frankfurt ghetto, sent his five sons to conquer Europe. Baron Nathaniel, grandson of Mayer Amschel, moved to Paris in 1853 and, in order to serve his own wine to his guests, acquired an estate in the heart of the Médoc, Château Brane Mouton in Pauillac. He then renamed the estate Château Mouton Rothschild
In 1933, Baron Philippe de Rothschild acquired Château d’Armailhac and its trading company, Société Vinicole de Pauillac. He renamed her Baron Philippe de Rothschild. Since then, the estate has been handed down from generation to generation, and continues to grow. Today, Camille Sereys de Rothschild, Philippe Sereys de Rothschild and Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild manage the Château.La Maison Baron-Philippe-de-Rothschild markets both Châteaux and branded wines. On the Pauillac terroir, it owns three Grands Crus Classés, including the famous Château Mouton Rothschild. In France and abroad, the Maison Rothschild manages brands such as Mouton Cadet, Opus one in California, and Escudo Rojo in Chile, with the same high standards of quality.

cuvée baron Nathaniel
was created as a tribute to the British branch of the Rothschild family. It was he who bought Château Brane Mouton in Pauillac, in the heart of the Médoc, and gave his name to the estate.
This delicious
red wine
pays tribute to the expression of fruit, with a splendid aromatic richness, and an open nose of black fruit, leading to a fruity, full-bodied palate. A balanced, smooth wine with a long finish. A good wine for laying down, it can also be drunk young. Best served between 16 and 18°C.
Tasty meats will be perfect with this lovely Bordeaux. Lamb will be perfect, of course, but you can also go for game or even duck.
