La Bastide Castel d’Aille is an estate steeped in history, founded in the 18th century and now in the hands of the Rosé family, a fitting name for a Provencal vineyard. Situated on nine hectares in the Maures plain, this estate benefits from a unique terroir with red soils and a Mediterranean climate with continental trends. Warm days alternate with cool nights, ideal conditions for producing distinctive wines.

A production faithful to the terroir

The domaine produces four cuvées, including three in the Côtes de Provence AOP appellation, rosé, white and red, as well as a rosé in the Var IGP appellation. The AOP wines are also available in magnum, while the IGP rosé is available in BIB.

Recognition year after year

The domaine’s wines have won numerous awards in recent years. In 2020, their PDO white wine won a gold medal at the Concours Général de Paris, and their PDO rosé was selected by Gault et Millau as one of the fifty best rosés in Provence. In 2021, the rosé AOP won a gold medal at the Brignoles competition, recognized as the temple of Provence rosés. In 2022, the same rosé AOP was again awarded a gold medal at the Vins de Provence competition, while the white AOP won a gold medal at the Brignoles competition. In 2023, the rosé AOP won two gold medals at the Concours des Grands Vins de France in Mâcon and at the Concours International des Produits Organiques et en Conversion. In 2024, it won a silver medal at the Brignoles competition.

A committed, certified vineyard

The estate is certified HVE3 and is committed to highly integrated agriculture. It began its organic conversion in 2021 and obtained certification this year. Located in the Plaine des Maures national nature reserve, the vineyard flourishes in an exceptional environment of umbrella pines, oaks and chestnut groves, home to over one hundred and eighty protected species.

An exceptional terroir

The terroir is made up of four characteristic types of red schist-sand-pelite soils and ancient alluvial terraces of the Aille river. The Mediterranean climate with its continental influences offers cool, wet winters and very hot, dry summers. This thermal amplitude enables the grapes to reach excellent phenolic ripeness while preserving their natural acidity.

The expression of Provence grape varieties

The Maures plain accounts for almost half of the Côte de Provence appellations, where traditional grape varieties such as Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsaut, Carignan, Rolle, Ugni Blanc ,Cabernet Sauvignon and Caladoc express themselves with finesse.

Work in the cellar

The red and white rosé cuvées are vinified in keeping with the estate’s traditions. Their prestige cuvée is aged in French oak barrels, bringing complexity and elegance to these wines. The cellar master carefully selects the grape varieties, then refines and educates the wines to give them a unique, assertive character.
