Chateau Petrus à Pomerol

There’s a name that’s known and recognized the world over, a wine that’s considered one of the best, and whose name alone is enough to make anyone agree: Petrus. This legendary Bordeaux wine and timeless, is still the best wine in the world.

Recognized customers

It was in the second half of the 20th century that Petrus really began to make a name for itself. Indeed, in 1947, just as the Second World War had left its mark on the estate, Madame Loubat, the estate’s owner, attempted to promote her wine abroad by sending a case of Petrus to Buckingham Palace. Shese wines were selected for the wedding of Elizabeth II, who made them one of her favorite wines during her lifetime (as did the Kennedy family and Marilyn Monroe, a star of the era). As a result, Petrus quickly became recognized by oenophiles the world over.

Château Lafleur, Pomerol

It’s a great spotlight for an estate that proves its quality and arouses curiosity: this 100% Merlot red wine, emblematic of the Pomerol appellation, is one of a kind. With its aromas of cherry, violet and truffle, it stands out for its incredible persistence and exceptional harmony. This is one of the rare wines to have obtained a 100/100 rating from the famous critic Robert Parker over 9 vintages!

A unique wine

The planting of vines on deep clay soils and the harvesting of grapes at optimum maturity (in just two afternoons, and by hand!) contribute to the unique profile of these wines. So there’s no need for a wide range or unique labels: Petrus produces just one red wine a year. Despite the many great names in Bordeaux winegrowing, Petrus remains the unrivalled benchmark and rarity in its purest form.
