The story

Tutiac is a cooperative of 520 winegrowers on both banks of the Gironde, in the Bordeaux region. Proud of their terroir, they carry it as their standard to defend its values and typical characteristics. Driven by the noble values of respect and hard work, they produce wines from all the horizons of the Bordeaux region that are seductive in their differences.

A proven cooperative model

Founded in 1974, the Tutiac cooperative is now the leading producer of Côtes de Bordeaux wines and France’s largest appellation d’origine contrôlée producer. The cooperative was born of the gradual merger of the region’s wineries. Beginning with the creation of the Cave des Hauts de Gironde in Civrac, it then joined forces twenty years later with the Cave de Saint Vivien. Mergers followed in the 2000s, notably with the Lugon cellars, then Sauternes, in 2019 and 2020. The production facilities were also gradually installed, with the construction of the bottling line for example. The Tutiac winegrowers are committed to viticultural innovation, which is why they were involved in the CASDAR project to plant an experimental vineyard for French viticultural research. By giving of themselves, these 520 winegrowers have developed expertise in the French wine market and exceptional know-how, all based on the values of sharing, mutual aid and conviviality.

A diversity of terroirs por a different vision of Bordeaux

Spread across the Gironde, Tutiac’s vines grow on terroirs in the Bordeaux, Blaye Côtes de Bordeaux, Côtes de Bourg, Fronsac, Médoc, Graves and Sauternes appellations. Thanks to its exceptional location close to the Gironde estuary, the vineyards benefit from the oceanic influence that tempers the high temperatures of the region, which enjoys over 240 hours of sunshine a year. The geological diversity of its terroirs also enables winegrowers to grow vines of different traditional Bordeaux grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc. Finally, since the terroir is not complete without human know-how, we must salute the 1,300 families who make their living from the winery’s activities, helping to magnify the fruits of their labor.

A variety of wines to build a dream collection

The diversity of terroirs and grape varieties inevitably leads to an incredible variety among the cooperative’s wines: red wines that are sometimes fresh and fruity, sometimes elegant and structured, sometimes spicy and woody. These white wines are characterized by their freshness, with aromas of citrus, white fruit and vanilla. And Bordeaux rosés, with their pale pink and bluish hues and aromas of fresh fruit. A taste bud delight for all enthusiasts!

Tutiac is also renowned for its commitment to the environment: the first organic wine producer in Bordeaux, the winery was also the1st in France to offer wines certified free of pesticide residues, via the Zéro Résidus de Pesticides (ZRP) label.
