Delicious wine in picturesque vineyard. Based on Generative AI

Tuscany lies in central Italy, along the Tyrrhenian coast, and includes the renowned wine regions of Chianti and Brunello di Montalcino. Tuscany boasts 33 DOC (DOC), and 11 DOCG (DOC superior).

When it comes to wine, few regions can compare with Tuscany, one of the most popular among Italian wine lovers. Vines were first cultivated here over 3,000 years ago by the Etruscans. Today, although production has fallen since the 70s, quality is higher than ever.

TWIL recommendations

The classics

These 4 wines will introduce you to Tuscany and its fine wines bursting with Italian sunshine:

  • Concerto Di Fonterutoli, Mazzei one of the forerunners and leading exponents of the so-called “Tuscan supers”. Deep ruby color with garnet highlights. The nose impresses with notes of cherry and fragrant fine wood, cigar box and undergrowth in the background. Compact and dense on the palate, revealing well-integrated woody notes. Serve with cep pasta or foie gras.

  • Imani Chianti Docg, Bernard Magrez This red wine is 90% Sangiovese. It has a ruby-red color with brick-orange highlights, a nose with an aromatic bouquet characteristic of Tuscany, and a fruity palate with a smoky aftertaste. It goes wonderfully with dishes in sauce and red meat. A very affordable way to discover Tuscany!

  • Chianti Classico Riserva Docg, Castello Di Volpaia It’s an extremely gratifying and inviting wine. Juicy and racy, Riserva captures the appeal of this hot, dry year. Structured, with supple tannins and a very long finish. Sweet red fruits, cedar and blood orange give the 2017 vintage a striking aromatic intensity.

  • La Massa, Fattoria La Massa Rated 90/100 by Wine Spectator and Wine Decider, this red wine is the pure expression of 100% Sangiovese. Produced between the two wine-growing regions, Chianti Classico and Chianti Colli Senesi, its nose offers a magnificent aromatic palette, with notes of blackcurrant and black fruit mixed with tobacco and liquorice. On the palate, the tannins are supple, and this Fontalloro is well structured. We advise you to leave it in the cellar for a while before opening it.
For Tuscan wine aficionados

Here are two incredible nuggets that cost a little more, but offer maximum taste pleasure:

  • Sassicaia, Tenuta San Guido This cuvée is also one of the “super Tuscans”. A delicious, full-bodied wine with a multitude of sunny flavors. A perfect accompaniment to pan-fried vegetables and baked potatoes. On the nose, spices and fruit. Full-bodied on the palate, with a lingering finish of red fruit, leather and tobacco.

  • Masseto, Tenuta Dell’ornellaia Tuscan excellence in a bottle! This red wine is a nugget with a powerful bouquet of wild berries and chocolate on the nose. On the palate, ripe tannins, lots of sweet fruit extracts, redcurrants and strawberries, plus hints of pepperoni. Excellent balance, very elegant and wonderfully long. Enjoy with a delicious platter of Italian cheeses.

The Tuscany region offers succulent wines that are still relatively unknown to the French population.

So, will you be leaving for Tuscany earlier than planned? 🇮🇹
