If you’re ever in South Africa, you can’t afford to miss this unique estate. For good reason, Le Chant vineyard embodies an enduring winemaking relationship, blending the heritage of the old world with the contemporary new world.
Location
Le Chant is located on what were once four separate estates, the center of which was known as Eikenhof, a winery in the Polkadraai Hills of Stellenbosch, east of Cape Town.
The vineyard benefits from an atypical terroir. The area is characterized by gently rolling hills at altitudes ranging from 220 to 280 meters above sea level. The slopes face mainly south and southwest, exposing them to refreshing sea breezes from the surrounding bays.
Thanks to a sunny, windy microclimate, Le Chant grapes retain their acidity, which translates into a nervous acid tension on the palate when tasted. Freshness guaranteed!
Values
French flair and South African determination have long been interwoven into the fabric of Cape Town, a collaboration that spans centuries, each contributing to the rich and respected heritage of South Africa’s fine wines.
Le Chant embodies this enduring wine relationship. Indeed, Oddo Vins & Domaines is committed to producing exceptional, classic, distinctive and pure wines.
For many years, the cockerel was the personification of French flair. It’s when he sings at the top of his lungs (Le Chant) that he reveals his confidence, pride and determination to the world.
So it was these shared characteristics, combined with South African resilience, that led the owners to sing and drink in unison.
