Domaine Les Chagnasses is a small, family-run business that distinguishes itself by producing high-quality wines. The nectars they produce boast the famous Bordeaux appellation of Lalande-de-Pomerol. From vineyards on the right bank of the Garonne, these wines offer a fruity strength that is a delight to the taste buds.

Unique know-how handed down from generation to generation

Passionate about his terroir and working the vines, Jean Seynat founded Domaine Les Chagnasses in 1963. He named the estate after the history of the land. Indeed, the term “chagnasse”, meaning “small oak”, is used to recall the fact that small oaks were present on the estate’s plots.

For almost thirty years, he developed this sublime estate on two hectares in the Libourne region, before handing it over to his son-in-law, Georges Abécassis, in 1992. Touched by a passion for wine, he specially trained in oenology and viticulture. He modernized the operation while preserving the precious traditional methods.

The love of the vines was then passed on to Jean Seynat’s grandchildren, who took over the estate in 2016. The estate’s development and recognition, while perpetuating the family tradition, are their priorities. Domaine Les Chagnasses continues to share sublime wines that aim for a sumptuous balance of flavors.

An authentic terroir and generous vines

The estate’s vineyards are ideally located on the extension of the Pomerol plateau in the Gironde department of south-western France. This situation provides abundant sunshine which favors grape ripening.

Close to the Atlantic Ocean, this Bordeaux estate enjoys a temperate oceanic climate. The vines therefore benefit from mild, rainy winters and cool, wet summers.

This estate covers both the Lalande-de-Pomerol and Néac communes. This position offers rich, fertile soil: sandy and silty, even gravelly. Highly appreciated for growing vines, this type of soil enables the estate to develop surprising wines, depending on the final blend.

The richness of this terroir allows us to produce authentic red wines of great gustatory quality.

Respect for the vines to produce rich, powerful wines

Sustainable viticulture is applied to care for the vines. The products used are organic, but curative products are also used to treat the vines when they are sick.

Domaine Les Chagnasses produces red wines with the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation. These great Bordeaux wines are made from the finest Merlot and Cabernet Franc grapes. Each vintage is characterized by a harmony of fruity and tangy flavors.

The owners are surrounded by oenologist Marc Soumet and Vincent Rouby, a laboratory technician in Saint-Émilion, to produce exceptional wines. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for twelve to eighteen months, giving it a subtle woody note.
