Mignon-Boulard, a family home
Maison Mignon-Boulard is located in the hamlet of Tincourt in Venteuil, in the heart of the Marne Valley. The House is more than a hundred years old, having been founded in 1911 by Louis and Louise, a winegrowing couple who decided to produce and market champagne. Each generation makes its own contribution: Lucien and Marcelle equip the house with a traditional press in the 50s, and Daniel and Monique develop the vineyard and introduce Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Today, it’s Cyril and Estelle who are carrying on the work of previous generations, in the continuity of family values.
Between tradition and modernity
Perpetuating tradition while modernizing is a key value for Maison Mignon-Boulard. In fact, the vines are tended using both traditional tools, such as the plough, and more modern ones. The grapes are still pressed in the traditional press, and the champagne is of course made using the traditional champenoise method, in which the wine undergoes a second fermentation in the bottle to produce effervescence.
A home that respects the environment
The Mignon-Boulard vineyard stretches along the slopes of Venteuil, benefiting from excellent southern exposure. The grape varieties planted here are Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier, Chardonnay and Petit Meslier. The company is committed to protecting this Champagne terroir, respecting its traditions on the one hand, and promoting its biodiversity on the other. As a result, the company practises rational phytosanitary control, limiting the use of chemical products and favouring ploughing, grassing and organic fertilizers.
