The Vosne-Roman\u00e9e appellation enjoys a worldwide reputation for its red wine production. It was awarded the AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contr\u00f4l\u00e9e) label in 1936.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Vosne-Roman\u00e9e’s history dates back to the 7th<\/sup> century.<\/h2>\n

The history of Vosne-Roman\u00e9e has its roots in the village of “Vaona”, around the year 640. In the heart of the C\u00f4te d’Or, this small village benefits from the quality of its vineyards, as well as from the policies pursued at the time. At the beginning of the 6th century, the religious establishment of Christianity in this region favored wine production, through land bequeathed to abbeys and cultivated by monks.<\/p>\n

More than 800 years later, in 1395, Philippe le Hardi wanted to improve the quality of his wines and imposed an all-Pinot Noir grape variety.<\/p>\n

Vosne-Roman\u00e9e is the most expensive appellation in Burgundy<\/a>, thanks to its historic heritage and exceptional reputation. One of the wines produced in this region, Roman\u00e9e Conti, whose vineyards date back to 1232, is still the most expensive wine in the world!<\/p>\n

In the heart of Burgundy, Vosne-Roman\u00e9e’s terroir extends over more than a hundred hectares!<\/h2>\n

The appellation lies in the heart of the C\u00f4te de Nuits, between Vougeot and Nuits Saint Georges. Today, the estate covers 152 hectares, 57 of which are Premier Cru. The soils are clay-limestone and more or less ferruginous, consisting of multiple successive layers of limestone and marl. The vineyards lie between 250 and 350 meters above sea level, with the 1ers Crus and Grands Crus located at mid-slope.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Vosne-Roman\u00e9e is a fresh, powerful wine with a surprising olfactory symbiosis!<\/h2>\n

Pinot Noir is the only grape variety used to produce Vosne-Roman\u00e9e. Pinot noir gives Vosne-Roman\u00e9e a particularly dark, deep garnet-red color with vermilion highlights.<\/p>\n

On the nose, Vosne-Roman\u00e9es immediately reveals fruity aromas, marked by black fruits, as well as hints of rose and even spices, producing a delicate symbiosis. On the second nose, we find subtle notes of wilted flowers and more full-bodied, animal nuances. Vosne-Roman\u00e9e’s complexity on the nose is quite exceptional.<\/p>\n

On the palate, Vosne-Roman\u00e9e offers exceptional power. It’s a full-bodied wine, but with good acidity and a refined tannic structure.<\/p>\n

Vosne-Roman\u00e9es 1er Cru and Grand Cru wines have an ageing potential of 8 to 30 years. For Vosne-Roman\u00e9es village wines, we recommend keeping them for between 5 and 10 years.<\/p>\n

For Vosne-Roman\u00e9e, choose dishes with strong flavours<\/h2>\n

The complexity of Vosne-Roman\u00e9e makes it a particularly powerful wine, but it also reveals a very velvety character. It’s a perfect accompaniment to a wide range of dishes; for your tasting experience, choose red meats, game or strong cheeses that will match the power of this wine without fear that the flavors will be annihilated.<\/p>\n

For starters, choose hot starters to accompany your Vosne-Roman\u00e9e. So why not enjoy your wine with eggs en meurettes, or goug\u00e8res, for example.<\/p>\n

As a main course, Vosne-Roman\u00e9e’s character is the perfect accompaniment to red meats. A tournedos Rossini or a grenadin of veal should blend in perfectly with your Vosne-Roman\u00e9e tasting experience. You can easily accompany these dishes with a fricassee of mushrooms, whose earthy notes are a perfect match for the wine.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Family estates in Vosne-Roman\u00e9e<\/h2>\n

M\u00e9o-Camuzet Estate<\/h3>\n

The history of Domaine M\u00e9o-Camuzet is certainly a family adventure! For more than four centuries, the M\u00e9o family, true wine enthusiasts, have devoted themselves to growing and making wine.<\/p>\n

The estate’s history is rooted in Burgundy, in the village of Selongey, through the person of Etienne Camuzet, winegrower at Vosne-Roman\u00e9e and member of parliament for the C\u00f4te d’Or. Jean M\u00e9o marked a real turning point for the estate. In 1981, the Camuzet estate became M\u00e9o-Camuzet.<\/p>\n

Jean Nicolas M\u00e9o, son of Jean M\u00e9o, took over the estate in 1984. This new winemaker is determined to give the estate a worldwide presence, and so he promotes his wines by creating an international distribution network, where he is selected by the greatest sommeliers. This explains M\u00e9o-Camuzet’s unique place in the foodservice industry.<\/p>\n

Today, the domaine owns parcels in numerous Burgundy appellations, including Grands Crus, Premiers Crus, villages and regional appellations!<\/p>\n

Robert Sirugue Estate<\/h3>\n

For 5 generations, Domaine Robert Sirugue has been welcoming wine lovers to their Vosne-Roman\u00e9e estate. Marie-France, Jean-Louis and Catherine and their son Arnaud work with passion on this 11-hectare Vosne Roman\u00e9e estate<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Here, all appellations enjoy the same care, precise, meticulous work, always with respect for tradition. The grapes are harvested by hand, meticulously sorted and destemmed, keeping the logs whole.<\/p>\n

Always keeping in mind the traditional aspect, vinification is carried out using modern equipment. The wines are aged for 12 to 15 months in oak barrels. Bottling -without fining or filtration- is carried out directly at the estate.[\/vc_column_text]
