The appellation covers the communes of R\u00e9gni\u00e9-Durette and Lantigni\u00e9.<\/strong>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>R\u00e9gni\u00e9 is the most recent appellation to join the crus of the Beaujolais.<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The work of 120 winemakers, R\u00e9gni\u00e9 is the latest Beaujolais appellation to see the light of day, having only been accepted as such in 1988. Over the years, the appellation has established itself as one of the most important in its terroir.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">R\u00e9gni\u00e9&#8217;s vineyards are thought to have existed since the Middle Ages, but the region&#8217;s wines only really began to make a name for themselves in the 17th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> century with<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with the opening of the Briare canal, and were at their peak in the bourgeois Paris of the 18<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">th<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> century Paris. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>R\u00e9gni\u00e9 vineyards face due south<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">R\u00e9gni\u00e9 takes its name from this commune in the Beaujolais region, which is dominated by a magnificent church with two bell towers built by the architect of Notre-Dame-de-Fourvi\u00e8re. The vineyards are bordered to the west by the Monts du Beaujolais, which divide the Loire and Sa\u00f4ne valleys. Between 250 and 500 meters above sea level, the vineyards that make up the R\u00e9gni\u00e9 appellation stretch over 400 hectares of sandy, clayey hillsides, drawing their character from the pink granite subsoil.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The vinification of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">R\u00e9gni\u00e9 <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is made from whole bunches, which is specific to Beaujolais.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Mainly planted with Gamay, known as &#8220;Gamay Noir \u00e0 jus blanc&#8221; (Black Gamay with white juice), these red grape vines produce remarkably delicate grapes that give fruity wines combining good constitution and extreme finesse. The vineyards are south-facing, so get plenty of sunshine.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The region boasts a unique climate, as its temperate, semi-continental climate combines oceanic and Mediterranean influences. With plenty of sunshine, moderate rainfall and mild temperatures, the vines enjoy ideal exposure.  <\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>R\u00e9gni\u00e9 is a round, powerful terroir wine<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">R\u00e9gni\u00e9, like the other ten Beaujolais crus, is a beautiful and unique expression of the Gamay grape variety. R\u00e9gni\u00e9 has a brilliant cherry to ruby color.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The nose offers charm and freshness, with aromas of red fruit (redcurrants, blackberries and raspberries), sometimes tending towards ripe peach or violet. On the palate, this is a wine with relatively little tannin, revealing very good acidity without too much complexity, as its winemaking method has evolved over time.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In fact, on the palate, the attack is soft, while the body is round and undeniably powerful, leaving a long, fruity sensation at the back of the mouth.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To best appreciate the aromas and nuances of this generous, full-bodied wine, R\u00e9gni\u00e9 should be drunk young, from 3 to 5 years. The success of R\u00e9gni\u00e9 wines can also be attributed to their delicacy, which is apparent from their earliest youth.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>R\u00e9gni\u00e9 goes well with dishes from the Beaujolais region<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.twil.fr\/france\/beaujolais-et-lyonnais\/regnie.html\">R\u00e9gni\u00e9 is a wine<\/a> to be fully appreciated with dishes from the Beaujolais region. This feminine, round and elegant wine should be served at an ideal temperature of 13\u00b0C to 14\u00b0C, and is a perfect match for rabbit \u00e0 la basquaise, pork shank with green lentils, pork pot au feu or guinea fowl \u00e0 l&#8217;orange.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It&#8217;s also the ideal accompaniment to white meats simmered with vegetables. These recipes are sure to please even the most discerning taste buds, as the harmony between this vintage and these dishes is so obvious.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>What have been the great vintages of AOC R\u00e9gni\u00e9 in recent years?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The years: 2005, 2009, 2010, 2011 are considered to be the appellation&#8217;s finest years, which are qualified as <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the millennium. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Remarkable family estates make up the R\u00e9gni\u00e9 terroir<\/h2>\n<h3>Striffling Estate<\/h3>\n<p><b> <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A family estate since 1678, it is now owned by Guillaume Striffling. The vines are worked with common sense, with the greatest respect for the environment and the soil. Traditional and long macerations produce wines with character. This vineyard is  <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">composed of 13 hectares of Gamay and Chardonnay vines. The R\u00e9gni\u00e9 and Morgon appellations are produced here. They are characterized by fine, aromatic wines.  <\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Domaine des Maisons Neuves<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.twil.fr\/producteurs\/france\/beaujolais-et-lyonnais\/regnie.html\">R\u00e9gni\u00e9 wine estate<\/a> has belonged to the Jambon family for over a century.
