It is the source of the Sancerre Appellation d&#8217;Origine Contr\u00f4l\u00e9e, which produces red, ros\u00e9 and white wines. The AOC was decreed in 1936 for white wines, and in 1956 for red and ros\u00e9 wines.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The vineyard covers 3,000 hectares and fourteen communes. The <a href=\"https:\/\/vin-champagne.ouest-france.fr\/sancerre\/\">Sancerre terroir<\/a> is composed of a temperate oceanic climate and three types of soil:  <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">marls<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kimmeridgian<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">dry, highly stony limestones (caillottes), flint-rich siliceous soils. <\/span> <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Sancerre white grape varieties<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let&#8217;s be concise. AOC Sancerre blanc is made exclusively from Sauvignon B grapes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>White Sancerre and gastronomy<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.twil.fr\/france\/vallee-de-la-loire\/sancerre.html\">White Sancerre<\/a> goes perfectly with goat&#8217;s cheese, especially crottin de Chavignol, part of the AOC area. We can also pair it with fish, shellfish and crustaceans.
