AOC presentation<\/h2>\n

Lalande-de-pomerol<\/a> is a French appellation d’origine contr\u00f4l\u00e9e red wine. It is produced in the communes of Lalande-de-pomerol and N\u00e9ac. As its name suggests, this AOC is similar to AOC Pomerol, from the Libournais vineyards (a sub-region of the Bordeaux vineyards).<\/span><\/p>\n

Covering 1,230 hectares, this appellation is larger than AOC Pomerol, but has remained in the latter’s shadow due to the lower quality of the wines it produces.<\/span><\/p>\n

The soils of this terroir are predominantly a mixture of clay and gravel. To the west, near the river, we also find sandy soils. These soils are particularly well-suited to growing Merlot, the main grape variety of the AOC. The grape varieties also include Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and C\u00f4t (Malbec).<\/span><\/p>\n

Lalande-de-pomerol’s main wines<\/h2>\n

The wines produced by this appellation have the dark ruby-garnet color typical of Bordeaux wines. On the nose, the intensity is very expressive, with red fruits and spices, cocoa and game. On the palate, the wines are well-balanced, with a clean, velvety, full attack. Melted tannins.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are now just under forty ch\u00e2teaux listed in theLalande-de-pomerol AOC:<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n
