It’s a family story that has brought this vineyard to the threshold of excellence in the heart of a unique territory.

A Cru Bourgeois of the highest quality

The story of Château Beauvillage began in 1925, when Valérie Bugada-Jean’s grandfather, passionate about his region and local produce, decided to acquire plots of vines in the heart of the small Médoc village of Couquèques. He invested all his know-how in managing his vines and making his wine, and trained his sons, Christian and Claude, to carry on his work. For many years, the two of them have been at the helm of the estate, exploiting its potential and preserving its environment. Imbued with the spirit of transmission, the family has welcomed Éric Bugada, Claude’s son-in-law, to whom he has passed on the vineyard know-how inherited from his father. Éric, an engineer by training, couldn’t resist the call of fine bottles and joined his in-laws in managing the vineyard. He was joined by his wife Valérie in 2015, and between them they now run the estate with a masterful hand. Their adventure was marked by the inclusion of Château Beauvillage in the Crus Bourgeois du Médoc classification, a certification guaranteeing impeccable quality in compliance with demanding specifications.

A privileged and respected terroir

Spread over three communes, Château Beauvillage ‘s 25 hectares are the guarantors of a varied geology and different climates that make each parcel unique. Their geographical locations make them complementary terroirs, sometimes on clay-limestone soils, sometimes on gravelly sands. The maritime influence of the Atlantic Ocean regulates the high temperatures of the warmer months and lengthens the vine’s vegetative cycle. These characteristics make it ideal for growing Merlot, the dominant grape variety. Cabernet Sauvignon completes the blend, adding structure. The entire vineyard has been awarded the Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) label. This is the highest level of certification guaranteeing compliance with environmentally responsible cultivation principles, excluding fertilizers and pesticides, and safeguarding biodiversity and natural resources.

An award-winning wine to promote

Château Beauvillage produces a unique wine of the same name.
