Vines have been grown in the region for over 2,000 years, having been imported by the Romans. It wasn&#8217;t until the late 1960s that the estate took on its current face and name, after coming under the control of Georges Brunet (former owner of Ch\u00e2teau la Lagune, a M\u00e9doc Grand Cru Class\u00e9). The name Vignelaure refers to the vineyard of Laura, the muse of the poet Petrarch.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The ch\u00e2teau was one of the forerunners of Cabernet Sauvignon cultivation in Provence, with the first plantings in 1966 (notably using grafts from Georges Brunet&#8217;s former estate in Haut-M\u00e9doc). The first vintage was produced in 1970, vinified exclusively in red, and was an immediate success. The first ros\u00e9s appeared in 1992, and the first whites in 2013.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first winery was built in 1972, and features stainless steel tanks, underground ageing cellars with oak tuns, concrete racks for aging wines, and a contemporary art gallery that marks the house&#8217;s second passion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/vin-champagne.ouest-france.fr\/mort-deloi-durrbach-le-mythique-vigneron-de-trevallon\/\">legendary Eloi D\u00fcrrbach<\/a> spent two years winemaking at Ch\u00e2teau Vignelaure before founding his own, Tr\u00e9vallon in Les Baux-de-Provence. He imported the Cabernet Sauvignon\/Syrah blend that he planted in 1973 and that would make him famous the world over.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Between 1986 and 2007, three owners succeeded one another, before the estate was bought by Mette en Bengt Sundstr\u00f8m, a Scandinavian couple who own Lauritz.com, an auction company.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, 50% of our wines are distributed in France in restaurants, including some thirty Michelin-starred establishments, as well as in exceptional wine shops, and 50% are exported to over 15 countries.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=&#8221;13846&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>The terroir<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In its current form, the Ch\u00e2teau Vignelaure vineyard covers more than 280 hectares, 55 of which are planted with vines. Classified as AOC C\u00f4teaux d&#8217;Aix-en-Provence, the vineyard is located in a cool climate with large temperature differences between day and night (nearly 20 degrees difference during the ripening phases).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each parcel (La Grand Pi\u00e8ce, La Colline and Chantemerle) features several red grape varieties, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Grenache, Merlot, Cinsault and Carignan. The Merlot and part of the Cabernet Sauvignon are vinified as IGP M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e. White wines include Rolle, Sauvignon Blanc, S\u00e9millon, Roussanne and Viognier (the last two being classified as IGP M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After being taken over in 2007 by the Scandinavian couple Sundstr\u00f8m, the estate began its conversion to organic farming, and today the entire vineyard is certified.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=&#8221;13845&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h2>The wines<\/h2>\n<p><b>Ch\u00e2teau Vignelaure red  <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah from old vines. Its color is a deep, dark red and its nose is very complex (a blend of spices, black fruits and notes of roasting). The palate is powerful, rich and very well balanced by a remarkable freshness. These wines have an ageing potential of over 20 years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Ch\u00e2teau Vignelaure white  <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Roussanne and Viognier partially vinified and aged in barrels. The color is a lovely bright gold. The nose is rich and complex, with notes of citrus, white peach, honey and vanilla. Full-bodied on the palate, with a remarkable freshness. The finish is long, with notes of white fruit and spices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Ch\u00e2teau Vignelaure ros\u00e9  <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is a blend of Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Rolle. It has a pale pink color and a complex nose of pink pomelo, mango and vine peaches. The palate is perfectly balanced with both roundness and freshness.
