The estate’s vineyards are located at the top of a hill facing the Savennières vineyards, renowned for their white wines, and overlooking the Loire River. The couple’s authentic wines are a true reflection of the Loire Valley terroir and will delight the taste buds of wine-lovers.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

An epic that goes from family to family

The history of Château Piéguë has been marked by a succession of families at the head of the estate. Traces of it date back to 1560, when the Brouillet family farmed the land. However, it was with the Moron family in the 18th century that the Piéguë adventure really began. In fact, it was Colonel Moron who, in 1840, erected the building that still serves as the property’s nerve center today. Towards the end of his life, he carried out a great deal of work to enable him to live there peacefully, and it was he who planted the first umbrella pines, which today are one of the house’s emblems. Nevertheless, Château Piéguë’s winegrowing history did not begin until 1920 under the leadership of the Van Der Hecht family. It was the family’s son who introduced viticulture, and the following year saw the first harvest, which produced the first wines of the house. Over the generations, 35 hectares of vines were planted on the estate. The vineyard then passed into the hands of the Thomas family in 2004, who created five guest rooms to allow visitors to linger over the beauty of the estate and the quality of its wines. Finally, since 2019, Laëtitia and her husband Simon have been running the estate. With a wealth of oenology studies and experience in France and abroad, she now runs the estate with a master’s hand, supported by her husband.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

A terroir in the vein of the greats

Located in Rochefort-sur-Loire, Château Piéguë’s 28-hectare vineyard overlooks the Loire from its terraced hillsides. Here, respect for biodiversity is the watchword. In fact, natural weed control, respect for the soil and sharing of space are among the fundamental principles of viticulture. This is why the estate’s vines are home to sheep in winter, creating a complete ecosystem. Equal proportions of red and white grape varieties flourish, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamay and Grolleau for the reds and Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc for the whites. Since then, the company has produced a wide range of red, white, rosé and sparkling wines to please every taste bud.

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

A comprehensive wine tourism offering

Laëtitia and Simon make it a point of honor to welcome their guests in the best possible way, and this is mission accomplished thanks to their most welcoming wine tourism offering.
