And so it is on this century-old land that the heirs of the Meyran family perpetuate the family tradition of vine-growing.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

An epic worthy of the greatest stories

The history of Domaine de Lagoy dates back to the beginning of the last millennium, more precisely to the 10th century, during the Gallo-Roman era. Originally, Domaine de Lagoy refers to a small Provencal village that once housed around twenty families, of which all that remains today is the old chapel. Ownership of the estate was then shared between the lords of the region until the 13th century, when the land passed successively into the hands of several families. From the d’Albe family to the de Sade family, it was the marriage of Marguerite de Sade to Gaspard de Forbin that brought the estate into the Forbin family. It was under her impetus that the first Château du Domaine de Lagoy was built from the stones of the old village. The estate remained in the family for half a century before being sold to the Meyran family, who still own it today. Jean de Meyran initiated the planting of vines and began the house’s winegrowing adventure, while a few years later his son proceeded to build a new château more in keeping with the family’s status. From generation to generation, the estate was handed down within the family, which played a key role in the region’s political life. Today, it is passed down through the family’s daughters, who have perpetuated the estate’s winemaking tradition.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

A terroir set in a most bucolic environment

Surrounded by vineyards and olive groves and facing the Alpilles mountains, Domaine de Lagoy enjoys an enviable panorama. The 29-hectare estate lies on the stony plateau of Petite Crau between Châteaurenard and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Its Mediterranean climate combines temperate winters and hot, dry summers that are cooled by maritime influences. This makes it an ideal terroir for growing the region’s traditional grape varieties: grenache, cinsault and syrah. These are joined by Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Marselan and Caladoc. What’s more, since 2018, the house has been producing a white wine made from the viognier, sauvignon and chardonnay grapes that thrive in the region. Finally, if the estate’s wines are the perfect reflection of their rich terroir, this is largely due to the organic farming method used, which helps preserve the soil and respect the region’s environment and biodiversity.

[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

Cuvées recognized by reference bodies

The company produces red, white, rosé and sparkling wines.
