It is located in the <\/span>pessac-l\u00e9ognan<\/span><\/a>in the communes of Pessac and Talence, in the Bordeaux area. It produces one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious wines, bearing the same name.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ch\u00e2teau Haut-Brion is a “premier grand cru class\u00e9” according to the 1855 Bordeaux wine classification. It shares this rare distinction with the <\/span>
\n Ch\u00e2teau Margaux<\/span>
\n<\/a>and <\/span>
\n Ch\u00e2teau Latour<\/span>
\n<\/a>and <\/span>
\n Ch\u00e2teau Mouton Rothschild<\/span>
\n<\/a> and <\/span>
\n Ch\u00e2teau Lafite Rothschild<\/span>
\n<\/a>. Ch\u00e2teau Haut-Brion is also classified as a Cru Class\u00e9 des Graves in the 1959 classification.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”2\/3″][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

The terroir <\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Ch\u00e2teau Haut-Brion vineyard is located in the commune of Pessac and covers 51 hectares. 48 are planted with red grape varieties: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The other 3 are planted with white S\u00e9millon and Sauvignon vines. The gravelly soil is made up of small pebbles that are all varieties of quartz. The subsoil is composed of a unique blend of sand, clay, limestone and falun (shell limestone).<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Ch\u00e2teau Haut-Brion wines<\/b><\/h3>\n

Ch\u00e2teau Haut-Brion white<\/b><\/em><\/h4>\n

It differs markedly from other dry white Bordeaux wines. Rare, it is distinguished by its aromatic richness, combining the unctuosity, smoothness and apparent sweetness of Semillon with the fruit and freshness of ripe Sauvignon. The latter concentrates typical gravelly flavors. The palate is full-bodied and long. <\/span><\/p>\n

Ch\u00e2teau Haut-Brion red<\/b><\/em><\/h4>\n

It was the first Grand Cru Class\u00e9 in 1855 and also Cru Class\u00e9 de Graves in 1959. Ch\u00e2teau Haut-Brion’s red wine is complex and elegant. It is composed of 45% Merlot, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Cabernet Franc. A hint of Petit Verdot enriches the blend. Very mineral, its aromas of black fruit, Havana, chocolate and cedar wood gradually reveal themselves. It has a soft opening and a powerful finish.<\/span><\/p>\n

Le Clarence de Haut-Brion<\/b><\/em><\/h4>\n

The blend of Clarence de Haut-Brion is 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc. This red wine has a nose of tobacco and black fruit. It is harmonious and distinguished. Its fair value is best appreciated after at least 5 years; it is even more qualitative after 10 years.<\/span><\/p>\n

La Clart\u00e9 de Haut-Brion<\/b><\/em><\/h4>\n

La Clart\u00e9 de haut-Brion is a white wine made from 90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. It is distinguished by fruity and floral aromas of exceptional freshness and unique complexity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Each year, 200,000 bottles are produced and sold. <\/span>[\/vc_column_text]
